International Teaching Artist Conference 2020

For those who read about (or joined virtually with) the hundreds of teaching artist delegates from 26 countries at the ITAC4 (Fourth International Teaching Artist Conference) at Carnegie Hall in New York last September, the dates of ITAC5 have just been announced.  The Orchestra of Dreams, South Korea’s remarkable El Sistema program, will be featured prominently, because ITAC5 will happen in Seoul on 15-17 September 2020, hosted by KACES, the South Korean government’s arts education agency (Korea Arts & Culture Education Service).

Mark your calendars.  Application processes won’t begin for many months, but you may want to hold those dates. The conference title is “Boundaries Into Pathways,” and key themes will be the ways teaching artistry addresses topics such as the following:  “unlearning;” valuing and being valued; peace and reconciliation; and using arts education to address the world’s most pressing social challenges (goal 3 of UNESCO’s Seoul Agenda).  The WE will keep you posted with further news.

Conferencia Internacional de Artistas Formadores 2020

Para los que leyeron sobre (o se sumaron de manera virtual con) los cientos de delegados de artistas formadores de 26 países en el ITAC4 (4a Conferencia Internacional de Artistas Formadores) en Carnegie Hall en Nueva York este pasado septiembre, se acaban de anunciar las fechas de ITAC5. La Orquesta de los Sueños, el programa extraordinario de El Sistema de Corea del Sur, será presentada prominentemente, porque ITAC5 tendrá lugar en Seoul entre el 15 y el 17 de septiembre de 2020, albergado por KACES, la agencia del gobierno surcoreano para la educación artística (el Servicio Educativo de Artes y Cultura de Corea).

Anótalo en tu agenda. Faltan muchos meses para que empiecen los procesos de postulación, pero quizás querrás reservar esas fechas. El título de la conferencia es “De barreras en senderos,” y los temas claves serán las maneras en que los artistas formadores abarcan temas como los siguientes: “desaprender;” valorar y ser valorado; paz y reconciliación; y utilizar la educación artística para enfrentar los retos sociales más urgentes del mundo (objetivo 3 de la Agenda Seoul de UNESCO).
