Two Resources from Carnegie Hall

Celebrating 15 years of the program, “Exploring Identity” is one of three recently released playlists featuring performances from Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Introduced by Grammy Award-winning composer, pianist, and bandleader Arturo O’Farrill, the songs on this playlist—mostly original compositions written by men who are or were incarcerated at Sing Sing—speak to themes of cultural identity and community.

Carnegie Hall Kids, a free site designed for children ages 5–12, introduces musical concepts and traditions through games, quizzes, and videos. Recent favorites including the new game Rhythm Explorer, quizzes like “Sights You Can Hear,” “Musical Time Machine,” and “Animal or Instrument?,” and the Musical Explorers Around the World Map.
