Creative Change Project Tackles Social Inequity through Music

06-21-2023

What is community music’s role in addressing social inequality? The Creative Change project is hoping to answer this question through a series of research-informed projects with Aboriginal communities across Australia. The evidence is already looking good; “place-based” arts initiatives promote social equity by building new skills, forging social connections, encouraging community resilience, and challenging harmful power structures and social norms. The program will draw on this evidence base to investigate how community-focused programs can contribute to long-lasting systemic change. You can learn more about one of their case studies, focused on the city of West End, here.
