Orchestra of the Filipino Youth Performs in Qatar

The Philippines-based Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) made its Middle East debut last month, traveling to Doha, Qatar to perform concerts on October 25 and 26 at the Qatar National Library and the Katara Opera House.

OFY, a 68-member ensemble, is the advanced orchestra of Ang Misyon, Inc., a Sistema-inspired program of the Philippines. OFY’s conductor is Venezuelan maestro Joshua Dos Santos. The orchestra performed Verdi’s Nabucco Overture, Symphony No. 12 by Shostakovich, Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez, Damaso Perez Prado’s Mambo No. 8, and Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko by Filipino composer Rey Valera.

La Orquesta de la Juventud Filipina se presenta en Qatar

La Orquesta de la Juventud Filipina (OFY) hizo su debut en el Medio Oriente hace un mes, viajando a Doha, Qatar para presentar dos conciertos el 25 y el 26 de octubre en la Biblioteca Nacional de Qatar y en la Casa de la Opera Katara. La OFY, un ensamble de 68 miembros, es la orquesta avanzada de Ang Misyon, Inc., un programa inspirado por El Sistema en Filipinas. El director de la OFY es el maestro venezolano Joshua Dos Santos. La orquesta tocó la Obertura Nabucco de Verdi, Sinfonía No. 12 de Shostakóvich, Danzón No. 2 de Arturo Márquez, Mambo No. 8 de Dámaso Pérez Prado, y Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko, del compositor filipino Rey Valera.
