NAAS Audition Intensives Are Back

03-15-2023

Auditions play a role in the mental fatigue and anxiety our students feel, especially these days. With that in mind, Sphinx is offering a great opportunity for young Black and Latinx orchestral musicians to connect with peers and prepare themselves for a career in music through their National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS) Audition Intensives. Applications for the next round are open now; the program offers mock auditions, lessons, masterclasses, and performance psychology training to U.S.-based Black and Latinx musicians who have completed or are within two years of completing undergraduate studies. Brass and percussion participants will be hosted by the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C. on June 3–4, 2023, while string players and harpists will join The New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida on June 7–9, 2023. NAAS provides flights (covering large-instrument costs), per diems, ground transportation to/from the airport, and shared accommodations for all participants. Applications include performance recordings and are due by April 10; visit their application portal to learn more.
