Grant Awarded to International Study on Music and Displaced Youth

07-20-2022

Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council has funded a groundbreaking multi-year project that explores how music and storytelling can support the well-being of migrant and refugee children. The project, “Singing Our Stories,” will offer music workshops in several international locations, including the U.S.-Mexico border, and will focus on singing and songwriting as a way for participants to process their personal histories and experiences of migration. They are seeking to establish a body of evidence on the impact of music in the lives of displaced youth; read more about the project in this interview with André de Quadros, a lead facilitator for the project and Professor of Music at Boston University.
