Sistema Toronto Brings Music to Toronto’s Libraries

One of Sistema Toronto’s newer programs brings musical opportunities to young people across the Canadian city through a partnership with Toronto Public Library. This past spring, the free program offered “Violin Jams,” an eight-week workshop series teaching the basics in playing, reading, and composing music for violin, as well as “Djembe Jams,” covering the essentials in African and Brazilian rhythms on the hand drum. The first edition was such a success that there are now plans to expand to other libraries in the future. Might this sort of program be a fit for your community library?
