We’ve long known that music-making builds transferable skills, but a recent article in The Conversation confirms it. Researcher Diana Tolmie interviewed 15 musicians working in dual careers, and the results show that they are leaders among their colleagues in professionalism, autonomy, resilience, and creativity. Tolmie’s research makes a powerful case for increasing access to music education to create long-lasting social and economic benefits for communities.
