Afghan Youth Orchestra Makes First Appearance in U.K.

The students of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music are no strangers to adversity. Having fled Afghanistan in 2021, where public music has been banned, ANIM’s youth orchestra recently faced a major setback when the U.K. government denied their visa request to tour the country. After an outpouring of support across the U.K., the decision was overturned, and the orchestra was met with a warm welcome from audiences across their four-city tour, “Breaking the Silence.” Read more about their inspiring story in The Times and in previous Ensemble articles.
