UK Introduces First Globally Recognized Music Exam for Sikh Sacred Music

Sikh sacred music, known as Kirtan, now has a place within the UK’s music examination system. The Music Teacher’s Board, offering globally recognized exams in instrumental music, introduced a first-of-its-kind exam in September for students studying the South Asian music tradition, and it’s already generating a lot of interest from students internationally. In our highly globalized world, this feels like a significant move towards more inclusive practices in music education.
