Save the Dates: Three Huge Conferences This Fall
Three conferences this fall promise to spark your creativity and passion. And, happily, none of them fall on the same day:
NALAC National Latinx Summit. Using the hashtag #ManosALaObra as a guiding mantra, the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) National Latinx Summit will take place virtually on September 30–October 2, 2021. The Summit will be anchored in Chicago and hosted by local NALAC alumni. This year’s mission is to “engage imagination, meet the call of the moment and assert our collective strength.” Follow NALAC on Instagram and Facebook to stay up on the latest Summit details. And speaking of NALAC, read their statement on receiving a $6 million gift as part of MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett’s transformational giving.
YOLA National. The 2021 Los Angeles Philharmonic YOLA National Symposium will be held both virtually and in person at the new Beckmen YOLA Center in Inglewood, CA, October 20–23. The first building established specifically for YOLA programming, the Beckmen Center will host all sessions, including livestream options for those unable to attend in person. This year’s theme is Change, exploring ways we can “adopt a transformational approach to teaching, learning, and program design.” Virtual attendance is free; in-person participation ranges from $15 to $50. Travel scholarships are also being provided through an application process. Register to attend via Eventbrite, and submit a session proposal by July 15 via YOLA.
WAAE Virtual World Summit. The World Alliance for Arts Education Virtual World Summit will take place October 11–15, inviting arts educators, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to join the digital gathering. They are asking for session proposals that focus on student learning assessment or arts program evaluation, in one of three tracks: designing for quality, implementing with fidelity, or methodologies and data analysis. Proposals are due by July 19; read more about the submission requirements via WAAE.
