Brazil Celebrates Access to Music for All

04-02-2025

Post-Carnival, Brazil is showing no signs of slowing down in celebrating its rich musical and cultural diversity. In March, musicians in Bom Retiro, São Paolo gathered together for “Bom Retiro em Festa: Carnaval das Culturas,” combining Samba, Klezmer, and Andean music with community conversations in a neighborhood that also hosts Korean, Greek, and Paraguayan residents. Elsewhere, in Grande Vitória, musician Felipe Azevedo spearheaded “Música para Todos,” a free, week-long event promoting access to music for children through a diverse program of singing, guitar, drum, and rap composition workshops. (Stay tuned for a piece on Música para Todos in a coming issue!)
