NYCPS Arts Office Launches Early Childhood String Pathway Program

10-02-2024

An unprecedented partnership between the New York City Public Schools Arts Office and private music schools will increase opportunities for free instrumental music instruction for kindergarten and Pre-K students across the five boroughs. The early childhood pilot will be rolled out in three classrooms over the 2024-2025 school year, offering group and individual violin instruction three days per week. Teaching artists from Bronx Arts Ensemble, the Harmony Program, and Third Street Music School Settlement will lead instruction and work together with classroom teachers to reinforce violin basics throughout the school week. A special shout-out to our friend Rachel Shapiro, who has been a key player in getting this project off the ground!
