Sounds of Change Documentary

Readers interested in the special power of work in refugee and asylum centers will be inspired by a short film just released by the Netherlands-based organization Sounds of Change, which trains changemakers to effect social change through music. Documentary filmmaker Joris Postema focuses on their Sounds of Change Academy, following the two-year training of eight “Musical Changemakers” through weekly workshops with children in Holland’s asylum centers. Sounds of Change Founder Lucas Dols and Trainer Hashem Kabreet share their thoughts about the importance for their students of choice, agency, and creative belonging. (If you want to learn more about Sounds of Change, check out our Q&A with Lucas Dols from last fall.)
