Colombia Hosts World’s Largest Concert for Peace

09-21-2022

This past August, 16,000 artists came together in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, to take part in the world’s largest concert ever. The event was a call for peace, marking the release of the Truth Commission’s final report on war crimes committed during Colombia’s internal armed conflict, which makes recommendations for national reconciliation. The concert, which involved 13,000 young musicians and choristers from 38 schools in the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras, was coordinated by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and other public institutions. It’s a reminder to everyone that an ensemble that plays together can be an arbiter of peace.
