Suggested Reading: Teacher as Artist-in-Residence

Here is an unusual book that presents teaching as an art practice: Teacher as Artist-in-Residence: The most radical form of expression to ever exist. Edited by Mexican-American artist and professor Jorge Lucero, it compiles the insights of 33 teachers from Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland; in fact, these teachers came together to write 120 pages in 90 minutes, delivering advice, teaching guidance, and inspiration. The book was published in collaboration with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Hard copies of the book can be obtained by following the directions on Jorge Lucero’s website, or  by downloading the PDF via
