Sistema England to Merge with The Nucleo Project

The Ensemble seeks to connect and inform all people who are committed to ensemble music education for youth empowerment and social change.

Sistema England to Merge with The Nucleo Project

Sistema England is passing its activities and leadership role to The Nucleo Project in London. Founded in 2013 by Lucy Maguire, The Nucleo Project will now be known as “Nucleo” as it expands its local work and takes on wider youth development roles. Nucleo will advance Sistema England’s Young Leaders Program, which brings together promising, committed young musicians and their teachers from around the country for national meetups and orchestra residencies focused on youth leadership. It will also advance Sistema England’s instrument donation bank, which has already put over 2,100 instruments into the hands of young musicians who need them.

Sistema England’s distinguished leadership team will join Nucleo in leadership and advisory roles; this includes Julian Lloyd Webber, founder of Sistema England and champion for music education, who joins Nucleo as Honorary Patron, and Sistema England Trustee Nina Kaye, who joins Nucleo’s board as Interim Chair. Sistema England’s other Trustees, including Julian Lloyd Webber, Marshall Marcus, and Fiona Cunningham, will continue to support Nucleo as an advisory group. Full announcement at Sistema England.
