Professional Development Opportunity: Embedding SEL in Music Education
Save The Music Foundation offers a new professional development program geared toward helping music educators embed social-emotional learning (SEL) in their teaching. Through a partnership with the Center for Arts Education and Social Emotional Learning (ArtsEdSEL), the program, titled “Student Empowerment Through SEL in Music Education,” includes nine monthly webinars from September 2021 to May 2022. This series helps music educators better understand how to elevate the lived experience, voices, and cultural assets of their students. Webinars are free and focus on activating the SEL competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making through the artistic processes of creating, performing, responding, and connecting.
