Juilliard Builds Introductory “Music by Black Composers” List

During the summer of 2020, a group of 20+ studio faculty chairs and other contributors from The Juilliard School created a list of “Music by Black Composers: An Introductory Resource.” The selections are their personal recommendations for others to listen to, study, and perform—pieces that are too often overlooked. Juilliard intends to keep this list growing.

We also recommend a similar resource that we announced when it first appeared: Rachel Barton Pine’s Music by Black Composers (MBC) project.
