The University of Liverpool’s recent study on In Harmony Liverpool bolsters a growing body of research on the impact of orchestral programs on youth resilience. The program, run by the Royal Liverpool Harmonic, offers weekly music activities to around 1,750 young people, 40% of whom are living in poverty. Twenty-two parents and caregivers contributed to the In Harmony Resilience Study, reporting increases in self-confidence, self-knowledge, social skills, and feelings of belonging for participating youth. A summary of the study can be found in Music Teacher Magazine.
