Coffee with a Side of Music
12-21-2022
We know that music has healing properties. With this in mind, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra has teamed up with the Shanghai Mental Health Center to produce musical “prescriptions” for what ails you. A series of blended coffee packs, each bearing the name of a common mental health condition and corresponding song that you can listen to via a QR code, has cleverly opened up conversation around mental health, once a taboo subject in China. Testimonials from symphony-goers on music’s healing power have led the Symphony to consider other ways they can promote mental health in the future, including healing-focused concert programs.
