Austin Soundwaves Alum Founds USC Mariachi Band

We love sharing success stories from El Sistema alumni. Austin Soundwaves alumna Daniela Santiago, a guitar studies major at the University of Southern California, began playing in the Austin ensemble’s mariachi group, where she discovered her passion for the music. She is now one of the cofounders of USC’s newest mariachi ensemble, Mariachi Los Troyanos de USC. As a first-generation college student, Daniela is proud to start this ensemble alongside her fellow students. The response has been powerful—the ensemble is booked solid for gigs!
