A New Kind of Research Zine

How often do you come across published research that shares findings through multiple art forms? Project YouSound, a research initiative that explores how music can support the social inclusion of refugee and migrant youth in Europe, has published the first of a series of zines that examine different programs’ approaches. This first issue provides a detailed ethnography of Project YouSound’s fieldwork with Sweden’s Dream Orchestra, with illustrator Beatriz Machado sharing her observations through original artwork that provides a window into the students’ experiences. More research will follow, with the next zine sharing fieldwork from El Sistema Greece. The project opens new possibilities for research design and makes its findings accessible to a wider audience.
