Black Teaching Artist Lab
The new Black Teaching Artist Lab (BTAL) is a professional development and travel-abroad program that connects individual BPOC artists and learners from the African Diaspora through arts education, in order to unify and strengthen intercultural understanding between marginalized Pan-African populations. The mission of the BTAL is to equip every Black teaching artist with an Afrocentric Social-Emotional Learning framework to teach Black youth about themselves, their cultures, and their communities through art. BTAL partners with existing teaching artist organizations and arts, cultural, and educational organizations to develop workshops and carry out BTAL’s mission.
