Mr. Rogers and Stronger Teaching Impact

Feature films about the late Fred Rogers have put him back in the public eye, but in one way he never left. The Fred Rogers Center leads a program in partnership with Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Pittsburgh called Simple Interactions . SI is a practice-based professional development program for teachers to build stronger adult-child relationships. This process uses recordings of teaching and a positive-focused analysis of things individual teachers do well and could continue to enhance. Like Mr. Rogers, the gentle, positive and effective process deepens the relationship-building between teachers and learners that is at the bedrock of El Sistema’s success in changing lives.
