Improve Student Behavior with these Three Steps

How do we get students to consistently behave during rehearsal? This article gives three reasons to tear down the old understandings of training student behavior, and suggests three non-punitive, non-shaming reliable ways to build constructive group learning practices:

1) “Take Ten” for Each Learner: Set aside 10 minutes each day to sit with one student (different student every day).

2) Keep it Off-Stage: Stop making discipline for poor behavior visible.

3) Hear Students Out: Before acting on any student behavior, try to understand why it happened.

It basically comes down to building whole-child relationships between student and teacher, and these approaches help accomplish that.

¿Cómo hacemos para que los estudiantes se porten bien de manera constante durante los ensayos? Este artículo da tres razones para derribar los pensamientos antiguos de la formación del comportamiento estudiantil, y sugiere tres maneras fiables sin castigo ni vergüenza para crear prácticas grupales constructivas de aprendizaje:

2. Déjalo tras bambalinas: Deja de hacer visible la disciplina del mal comportamiento.
3. Escucha lo que tienen que decir: Antes de reaccionar a cualquier comportamiento estudiantil, toma el tiempo de hablar con el/la estudiante y trata de entender porque pasó.
