New Director of the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music

El Sistema is excited to announce the appointment of Maestro David Ascanio as the new Director of the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music. Mr. Ascanio is a founding member of the national system of youth and children’s orchestras and choirs of Venezuela, and is considered one of the most acclaimed pianists of his generation in Venezuela. As a soloist, he has performed in over 40 countries with directors such as José Antonio Abreu, Sung Kwak, Ulyses Ascanio, Helmuth Rilling, Jordi Mora, and Dietrich Paredes.  Mr. Ascanio was the first prize winner of the Teresa Carreño Latin American Piano Contest and named Artist of the Americas by the Organization of American States.  Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ascanio served as Director of Chamber Music and Piano of the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music.

Nuevo director del Conservatorio de Música Simón Bolívar

El Sistema anuncia con emoción el nombramiento del maestro David Ascanio como el nuevo director del Conservatorio de Música Simón Bolívar, en Caracas. El Sr. Ascanio es miembro fundador del Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela, y está considerado como uno de los pianistas más renombrados de su generación en Venezuela. Como solista, se ha presentado en más de 40 países con directores como José Antonio Abreu, Sung Kwak, Ulyses Ascanio, Helmuth Rilling, Jordi Mora, y Dietrich Paredes. El Sr. Ascanio ganó el premio de primer lugar en el Concurso Latinoamericano de Piano Teresa Carreño, y fue nombrado Artista de las Américas por la Organización de los Estados Americanos. Previo a su nombramiento, el Sr. Ascanio servía como director de Música de Cámara y Piano en el Conservatorio de Música Simón Bolívar.
