The first Social Impact of Music Making Research Seminar will be held 5-9 November in Helsinki, Finland at the Sibelius Academy Training Center.  This seminar allows post graduate students and early-career researchers involved in ongoing research on the possible role of music in social and community work (SIMM) to spend a week together and share their research experiences. In three previous SIMM-posia it became clear that there is a great need to share research experiences, especially concerning the different methodologies; so this seminar will discuss methodologies such as ethnography, narrative inquiry, and participatory-action.  The format of group sessions allows the participating researchers to discuss their research with each other, in the presence of experienced facilitators. The seminar is free of charge, but participants must pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.  Check out the website to learn more.
