Updates and Letters of Love from Sistema Greece

12-31-2018

On December 16th, El Sistema Greece was proud to be part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s “Christmas World” concerts, playing festive music from around the world. They were joined by the Latin Brass Connection, an ensemble consisting of members of the Venezuelan Simon Bolivar Trumpet Ensemble.

In other news, El Sistema Greece has launched a new núcleo in the heart of Athens, in partnership with the non-profit company “One Child, One World.”  The new program offers choral lessons to children 10 to 15 years old.

December brought a special visit to the Skaramagkas children of El Sistema Greece: the amazing Pooja Pradeep and her initiative Letters of Love. Letters of Love is a youth-led international non-profit organisation that provides psycho-social support to refugee children while creating a global citizenry of aware, empathetic change-makers in classrooms. Since 2015, Letters of Love have delivered handwritten New Year Greetings to more than 35,000 Syrian, Iraqi, Yazidi, Afghan, Palestinian and Rohingya Refugee Children and are hoping to reach more refugee children in 2019. You can help them deliver letters this coming new year and give hope to more than 10,000 refugee children. Sistema Greece students made a short video with Pooja which you can watch below:
