05-17-2023

The Jameel Arts & Health Labthe brainchild of the World Health Organization (WHO), New York University’s Steinhardt School, the non-profit organization Culturunners, and the philanthropic foundation Community Jameelwas launched earlier this year with an ambitious mission: to research how the arts can improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities in some of the most challenging places around the world. This year, the Lab will run four research studies that use music and the arts to support the lives of women with postnatal depression, genocide survivors, people with dementia and their caretakers, and hospital patients and healthcare staff, with the intention to use the outcomes to shape public policy across all 194 United Nations member states. The Lab may even be coming to a city near you; check their calendar for upcoming arts and health events in the United States, United Kingdom, Egypt, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
