Music Therapy Takes on ChatGPT

04-18-2023

By now, you’ve probably heard of ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence program that can “write” an essay or a song by synthesizing information from the Internet. Despite valid reservations about its role in art, some educators and musicians are considering whether they might want to team up with this technology rather than fight it. Third Space Music Therapy focuses on this in their upcoming online seminar, “A music therapist’s guide to utilizing ChatGPT,” on May 6 at 11:00 a.m. EDT. Eva Marija Vukich, a music therapist and data scientist, will host the two-hour event, focusing on uses of ChatGPT in music therapy, with applications in music composition, production, transcription, and playlist generation. The seminar is $45 and includes slides and resource documents; a “pay-what-you-will” scale is available to students who email their interest and school information to eva@thirdspacemusictherapy.com. While the seminar is music therapy-oriented, it’s relevant to anyone who works in music and tech.
