Mentorship Award: Cultural & Artistic Responses to Environmental Change

04-18-2023

Most people agree that the world needs more creative responses to the critical environmental issues we face. The Prince Claus Fund and theGoethe-Institut invite exactly this sort of artistic action through their year-long interdisciplinary program Cultural & Artistic Responses to Environmental Change. The thinking behind this initiative will sound familiar: the arts hold great potential to create social change by challenging current perceptions and inspiring future action. Twelve mid-career artists and cultural practitioners at the intersection of the arts and the environment will be accepted to the year-long mentorship program, accelerating the impact of their work through cross-disciplinary exchange and network-building. Consisting of workshops, guest talks, and peer-to-peer sessions, the program will mainly take place online with the exception of two week-long, in-person mentorship intensives. Participants must commit to an average of ten hours per month over the course of the year and be comfortable communicating in English. In addition to covering travel expenses, visa costs, and accommodation for in-person mentorship weeks, each artist will be awarded €10,000 to work on a specific project with an environmental or climate focus, as proposed in their application. Applicants must be from or based in one of the fund’s working countries and fulfill all eligibility guidelines. Applications can be submitted through the Prince Claus Awards platform until April 30 at 23:59 CEST.
