Arts Recovery for Frontline Workers

01-18-2023

The Australian Defence Force has created an arts program to support frontline workers, building confidence and resilience through music, visual arts, and creative writing. The ADF Arts for Recovery, Resilience, Teamwork and Skills program (ADF ARRTS) is a four-week residency that welcomes current service members and veterans who are experiencing health and wellbeing challenges related to their service. Hosted by the University of Canberra, participants are mentored by arts practitioners as they explore opportunities for connection, learning, and performance. Participants say that the program has significantly increased their wellbeing, self-confidence, and ability to move forward post-service. Can you imagine how a program like this could serve your community? Reading this personal account might spark some inspiration.
