Detroit Youth Choir Sings Out against Gun Violence

09-21-2022

While many communities continue to reckon with the consequences of gun violence, the Detroit Youth Choir has released a powerful new music video honoring lives lost with a call to action. Their rendition of the Guns N’ Roses song “Sweet Child O’ Mine” was inspired by 11-year-old Layla Salazar, a victim of the Uvalde shooting last May, who used to sing the song together with her father every day before school. In times of unimaginable grief and confusion, these amazing young people are raising their voices. Let’s make sure everyone is listening.
