Special Event & Resources for Women Artists at Risk

08-17-2022

Every voice has a story to tell, if given the chance to be heard. Diaspora Arts Connection, a nonprofit organization supporting artistic expression among diasporic groups, is lifting unheard female voices as part of their annual event Let Her Sing. Taking place at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on September 10, 2022, the event is a celebration the female voice, countering the censorship experienced by woman vocalists in various parts of the world. The New York-based Artistic Freedom Initiative, which offers pro bono immigration representation and resettlement assistance for international artists who are persecuted or censored, will co-produce the event. If you know an artist who is facing persecution, or if you are at risk yourself as an artist, the organizations Freemuse and Artists at Risk Connection also provide critical advice and resources.
