Innovative Recovery Program for Seattle-Based Artists

05-18-2022

As the creative sector continues to recover from early pandemic times, the city of Seattle is funding a program that helps artists get back to work. Hope Corps, a New Deal-inspired program, will fund living wages for 100 arts professionals who organize community-focused projects. Individual artists, arts educators, cultural producers, arts administrators, and creative workers—as well as small community groups and arts and cultural organizations—can submit project ideas. Projects must foster community wellbeing, last 6–12 months, and generate career opportunities for the local creative workforce. Visit Seattle.gov for application details and dates about information sessions in the run-up to the June 6 (5 p.m. PT) deadline. Programs like these are too rare in the arts sector, to the detriment of many communities—let’s get some visibility on an innovative solution that can be adopted in our own areas.
