The Field is Growing

01-19-2022

Across the world, the music for social change field keeps growing. In Argentina’s Mendoza Province, there are now 20 orchestra and choir programs for young people in primary and secondary schools. This article from Infobae explains how they reached this milestone and shares stories of how students have responded to an inclusive classical music culture (hint: it’s positive).

On the other side of the world, Saudi Arabia has launched its first-ever national music strategy. A new partnership with the Ministry of Education will see music education embedded at every kindergarten and K-12 school in the country. Per this article in the Saudi Gazette, “This demand is exemplified by the recent uptick in Saudis seeking to learn instruments, with almost 20% of 15–24-year-olds now owning musical instruments.”
