Apply for the Future of Music Faculty Fellowship for Black and Latinx Music Professionals

04-06-2021

A first-of-its-kind career development initiative for Black and Latinx music professionals, the Future of Music Faculty Fellowship will spotlight and prepare exceptional future faculty leaders, taking aim at the representation gap in music faculties nationwide. Offered by the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), the Fellowship is open to Black and Latinx music professionals by competitive application. Candidates should aspire to a career in academia or already be pursuing a career in an adjunct or junior faculty position. The Fellowship is offered at no cost to participants, and Black and Latinx musicians and scholars from across disciplines and genres—from classical to jazz, from performance to pedagogy—are eligible to apply. The chosen cohort of up to 35 Fellows will engage in a series of virtual convenings led by influential artists, academicians, and thinkers. The Fellowship is powered by a grant from the Sphinx Venture Fund. Applications are due by May 1; view the application page on CIM’s website.

Speaking of Sphinx: The archive of 22+ recorded sessions from SphinxConnect 2021: Unity—their virtual conference that took place Jan. 27-30, 2021—is now available for everyone to view on YouTube.
