Four Tools for Young Musicians Available from Carnegie Hall

02-02-2021

Sometimes teenagers learn best from other teenagers. The NYO-U website from Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra offers 65 short videos (from three to eight minutes in length) about a wide range of topics (and instruments) selected by the NYO members themselves. Let your teen musicians know about this helpful video library.

Also, Carnegie Hall’s beloved Musical Explorers’ free online curriculum of global musical adventures, with musicians and music from different cultural traditions, has been adapted to reach students in grades 3 through 5 at their developmental levels. Register here and get materials for teachers here.

And while you are at it, check out the variety of resources for young musicians that Carnegie Hall makes available for free, on songwriting, singing, playing an instrument, learning about music—even about hip-hop and Latin jazz. Finally, Carnegie Hall has collected some playlists that might interest you; check them out on their site.
