Seminar on Research and Practice

Apply now for the 2nd Social Impacts of Music Making (SIMM) Research Seminar, focusing on the relationship between research and practice in social music projects. The international seminar will take place 25-28 November 2019, in Antwerp, Belgium. The research platform SIMM, the Antwerp Research Institute for the Arts (University of Antwerp), and the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp will be offering these applications. This seminar will enable post-graduate students and early-career researchers involved in ongoing research on the possible role of music in social and community work to spend a week together and share their research experiences.

A number of expert facilitators and researchers associated with SIMM will also be present, including Dr. Graça Boal-Palheiros (CIPEM, Porto); Dr. James Butterworth (University of Oxford, UK); Dr. An De Bisschop (University College Ghent, Belgium); and Prof. John Sloboda (Guildhall School of Music and Drama, UK). 

Applications to attend are due by 31 July, and should be emailed to info@simm-platform.eu. Those invited to participate in this year’s SIMM-seminar will be notified by the beginning of September.
